Share the Earth

Donald Trump thinks it’s appropriate to leave out any mention of the Jews on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

So what happens when we remove any mention of the Jews from Hannah Arendt’s final statement in Eichmann in Jerusalem?

And just as you supported and carried out a policy of not wanting to share the earth with…the people of a number of other nations…we find that no one, that is, no member of the human race, can be expected to want to share the earth with you.

We get an apt description of Donald Trump’s executive order regarding immigrants and refugees—and of our revulsion for it, and for him.

We just saw Golgatha, a new and remarkable play at La Mama. There are quite a few reviews on line; here is a link to one of them.
We saw it today, Holocaust Remembrance Day. It’s extremely well performed, with several points for reflection. The main thrust concerns the apparent “exclusion” of the Sephardic experience from the early celebrations at Yad Vashem, and the gulf –even in the camps, where some overcome it– between the Sephardi and the Ashkenazi. The protagonist is a Sephardi from Salonika.
I don’t know well this history– and I don’t have good knowledge of how the Facebook connection works. So please, Corey, if you can re-post or recirculate information about this play…

Hell, he didn’t mention the names of any Holocaust victims, except as “victims”. No names. None.
