What did we learn today?

What did we learn today?

Clinton’s big money supporters are trying to kill single payer in Colorado. Her possible VP pick has “a more nuanced position on abortion than many liberals.” John McCain’s right-hand man declared, literally, “I’m with her.” And the Jewish socialist from Brooklyn just won the Indiana primary.

All the rest is commentary.

I’d hoped for Patty Murray as VP pick, but I suppose she has to appease the MCPs.

“What did we learn today?” Isolated contests are Sanders’ domain; collective ones like Super Tuesday, last week, and the Ides of March are Clinton’s, as will June 7th, as virtually every poll has consistently attested to. Or to put it another way, isolated contests are good for white progressives; collective ones, for minorities. So do enjoy it while it lasts, for June will not be kind to you Bros of Bernieland.

Please don’t come onto my blog, and throw around words like bros and all the rest. It’s rude. You’re a guest here. Act like one.

The Bernie Bro appellation applies to the legions of privileged white male Sanders acolytes who make openly misogynistic comments about Hillary Clinton, and readily dismiss the votes of large numbers of African American Democratic voters; particularly, from southern states.
Otherwise, at this point, naïveté is a more appropriate term to ascribe to the legions of Sanders supporters.

You must be one of those superPAC people. So easy to spot, because you just copy/paste a talking point & then flee. Hope you’re making a decent living selling the country down the river.

@Xander – Sanders has the strongest support of any major candidate among lower income Americans along with young women and young minorities. Is that a description of “white progressives” and “Bernie Bros”?

Not to imply that I’m a fan of Sanders and his economic nationalism, but your argument here basically boils down to “Clinton has more money and establishment connections than Sanders does, therefore can win more easily the thinner he has to spread his resources”. A good point, just maybe not the one you want to be making.

HRC’s not even waiting until the primary is over to veer to the right. You can tell that she and the people behind her are itching so badly for the day when they won’t even have to pretend to give a shit about what the left wants.

Mark Salter, McCain’s right-hand man, wasn’t saying “I’m with her” because he likes Clinton’s policies so much. He was saying he supports her **over Donald Trump.** To bring up this quote without mentioning Trump at all, in fact while dismissing Trump’s final victory in the GOP race as mere “commentary”—while simultaneously mentioning an ultimately meaningless Sanders victory as newsworthy—is seriously disingenuous, and far below the standards I thought Corey Robin had set for himself.

Like many Republicans, Clinton is a strong war hawk, tough-on-crime neocon and big biz, free trade neoliberal. It shouldn’t be surprising that Republicans who share her views would support her over a candidate like Trump who doesn’t share their views.
