I’m joining Norm Finkelstein tomorrow to commit civil disobedience in protest of Israel’s war on Gaza

Norman Finkelstein has put out a call for at least 100 people to commit civil disobedience tomorrow at the Israeli mission at the UN in New York City. If 100 people agree to do it, it will happen. After writing countless posts on Israel and what has been happening in Gaza, I believe it’s time to act. I’m going to join Norm. I hope you will, too. If you are in the New York area and plan to do this, please email Norm at normfinkelstein@gmail.com. If 100 people agree to do this, we will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, July 29, at noon, at the Israeli mission to the UN. 800 Second Avenue, right off 42nd Street. It will be announced tomorrow, at 9 am, whether we’ve reached the 100 mark. [Please note that in an earlier version of this post, I listed Norm’s email incorrectly. The correct email is normfinkelstein@gmail.com.]

If you have any doubts about whether this is the right thing to do, watch this video.

Delighted to hear that, Corey. If I could get to New York I’d be joining you. I don’t think Norman will have a problem getting a hundred people.

You sir, are what’s wrong with America. Amazing we have a country that allows people to defend a people and government that exports hatred.

Yes Jake, it’s called the 1st Amendment.

Really? The first amendment allows protection of civil crimes? If you’re going to use a first amendment argument at least be sure it applies.

There you go then… different strokes I guess. To me, Corey, you represent one of the things most right with America.

Why has this action planned so hastily? I cannot bring myself to the location on such a short notice.

Maybe you should tell the Palestinians to give you more notice before they die under Zionism’s assault. I realize that sounds cruel, but Norman F. called for 100 people to join him because he realized that he’s already
waited to long to take action. I live in Minneapolis and am terribly disabled, but Wednesday I’m going to drag my sorry ass to St Paul to demonstrate against US Senator Al Franken who supports Israeli genocide. You should do the same as should every person reading this. Frederic Douglas in the fight against slavery said it best. Power gives up nothing without a demand. It never has and never will. I stand with the children of Palestine. Who do you stand with?

Yes, isn’t it ‘amazing’ that we live in a country that allows that? And that’s what’s wrong with America, right?!

I would be there tomorrow if I was anywhere near NYC.

For anyone who tried to answer Professor Finkelstein’s call, there was a subtle typo in the email address: it’s normanfinkelstein@gmail.com , “norm” rather than “norman.” Best of luck everyone.

    • Source, please?

I mean, one that independently backs up this claim you say is from the IDF.

Exactly HOW did Hamas “order” civilians to act as a “human shield” for a planned target for an Israeli attack? How does that get accomplished? How does Hamas get people to stand in the path of IDF shelling?

Every child’s heard of curfew. If you think that playing dumb on such a basic social institution is going to win you an argument, the world will be much safer if you would just stop thinking.

        • And if you think BEING dumb will serve that same purpose for YOU, think (if you’re even capable) again…

But seriously, you are not even trying. “Curfew”? Really? Hamas has curfews that end in children being sent to the roofs of buildings being targeted by the IDF for shelling? Is that the best you can do? Can you source that?

          No? Didn’t think so!

And I suppose that Hamas also filled the U.N. run schools, now being used as shelters, with children by imposing “curfews”, right? Six of which have recieved shelling by the IDF killing dozens, mostly children.

I love Norman. More than the subject matter, it’s his delivery. Like a slow steam roller he remorselessly crushes his opponents inch by inch as they twist and squirm.

If only Finkelstein didn’t have a history of saying nasty things about Jews, perhaps he’d have some real credibility. But that’s the problem with the hard left. Guys like Finkelstein are heroes, and their antisemitism doesn’t matter.

Proud of you guys for standing up on behalf of human rights and against terrorism & tyranny. Is it true you and Norman were both arrested?

Being labeled an “anti-semite” when one criticizes the IDF or Israel government policy has become so common that honestly, it’s not just meaningless, it’s become an actual badge of honor.

    And Jeffrey Goldberg wept. . . .

During the First Gulf War, as Transcendia and a merry band we went around Manhattan launching Transcendian Message Rockets. Our headquarters then were at Brownies. Beni Avini wrote about it for the paper Harret`z, (sp) of Tel Aviv. Scud missiles were then hitting. So a Pro-Active-Civil-Demonstration was what it was. Both sides could try it. I think I’ve gotten some paper rockets to get 5,000 feet with a big D engine.
Things I read said that one group of teenagers killed one teenager, and another group of teenagers killed another teen, and then the national powers of Hamas and Israel began bigger bombing and killing.
Adults are the people who are supposed to lead the children. My point is that this needs to be made clear to the people.
If you are going to follow unsocialized children, then we ought not be giving you bigger weapons.
What is it that I missed here?
