Every Time Terry Moran Speaks, a Butterfly Flaps Its Wings and a Chicago Teacher Makes 1/2 Her Salary

Terry Moran makes $20-30 thousand every time he gives a talk on the East or West Coast. Two Terry talks = one Chicago teacher salary.

Yeah, but he’s a job creator. His clothes aren’t going to dry clean themselves are they?

Teachers espescially adjunct professors, who are at the bottom of the pay scale show consider this, no raise in pay no grades. Adjuncts have little or no voice in decission making. Terry Moran is part of the corporate media biz who are not interested in how education works in this country or reporting on it until there is a strike. Telling it like it is before a strike occurs just might be a sign of true journalism. It is not all that comlicated. “Who Will Tell the People” Grieger’s book points out the fundamental change in journalism since corporate media has taken over the reporting of the news.

You’re right. These kinds of disparities in our society are obscene. The Ayn Rand market fundamentalist crowd are insane.

What criteria do you use for say “disparities in ou society are obscene”. Everyone reaps what they sow,if you are envy work more and shut up

This is the conservative claim: one’s value to society is perfectly expressed by his salary. This is clearly untrue, but I won’t try to convince a conservative of this because it is a matter of faith, not reason or evidence. I wonder: don’t you think that the tax incentives that allow people like Mitt Romney to get rich through private equity distort your free market utopia to such an extent that your “perfect markets” assumption become frayed? From what I can tell, conservatives always assume that whatever policies have made the the wealthy rich are God given. Or worse: they don’t think they are policies at all.

Okay, so the teachers are trying to sow themselves a better crop. If whatever people are paid is acceptable, there is nothing wrong with workers agitating for more. But if we’re going to say that some group of workers is overcompensated or paid enough, we get to also examine whether the wealthy are overcompensated.

Come on Corey – everybody knows that “real” work is getting paid large sums of money for making vapid speeches.

@Frank Moares: Wow, that post was loaded with strawmen, where to start. “This is the conservative claim: one’s value to society is

      perfectly expressed by his salary.”

No, his wage should be determined by his skills, and what the market will bear, and a company should be allowed to compete for employees labor also based on what people will voluntarily pay. How do leftist get to play this little game where they get to be the ultimate arbiter of what is fair, just and moral when they don’t believe in voluntary transactions or freedom of association?

” This is clearly untrue, but I won’t try to convince a
conservative of this because it is a matter of faith, not
      reason or evidence. ”

Leftists can’t seem to see what is right in front of them, or understand how wealth is created at all. This country was built on people pursuing their own interests. Tell me, can you name on successfuly collectivist country, since I am only basing my claim on “faith”?

” I wonder: don’t you think that the tax incentives that allow people like Mitt Romney to get rich through private equity distort your free market utopia to such an extent that your “perfect markets” assumption become frayed? ‘

I have no idea what those last two sentences mean. Mitt Romney get’s rich through his own initiative and what other’s are willing to pay him, if the consumer doesn’t like it they don’t have too. Again, voluntary transactions. And those tax loopholes you are talking about, those are legitimate deductions, taken and written into law by a lot of “super-rich” Democrats to help their rich donator buddies. Why is it you think you are entitled to someone else’s time and labor, or that someone has to work harder to earn money to give you, through government proxy or otherwise. Wealth has to be created, it cannot be confiscated and spread around. Of course the whole concept of wealth, saving, earning and the proper function of government is way over the head of a greedy, prog, deadbeat loser like you.
What about those rich Democrats who make money through their own initiative and then blast the free market? Or, how about those like Harry Reid who have made a fortune while in government? I let them take my money or I can go to jail for tax evasion, right? Nothing says caring like forced income distribution. Free will, voluntary mutual consent- that’s the stuff of evil tyrants and neighborhood bullies. That kid that works a lemonade stand and earns money isn’t any better then the bully that takes other people’s lunch money. Unless your the bully taking the lunch money. Because you care.

The scary thing is that I bet this Moran isn’t even a (conscious) Randite. From what I can tell, this is reaction of a large portion of the public. And I’m not surprised that this major league news reader is wagging his finger. Here in the Philly news market, any reports on the strike have been accompanied by the shills in front of the camera pursing their lips and making sad Paul Ryan eyes at the unruly behavior of the teacher.

I will say this one tiny, redeeming thing about Terry Moran: despite being paid exorbitant sums (often by the very corporate interests he will “report” on, or will have already “reported” on), he is at least the same person doing the *speaking* on Nightline. Whereas Time magazine’s Fareed Zakaria–who also receives enormous stipends, often from corporate interests, in exchange for dispensing his speechy wisdom–has interns doing his writing. And said interns apparently don’t always bothered to sufficiently alter the syntax of a copied graf or two or five (so as to evade detection by plagiarism-hunters) before dutifully pasting it and collecting their pats on the head.

How else he is going to afford all the plastic surgery in his face.
real culprit is the hedge funds and corporations who are paying
Obama to implement Charter Schools and destroy public education
    system.
Wisconsin defeat showed that Democrats aren’t for unions anymore.
Terry is useful tool for the rich and that is why he gets paid handsomely.
If you did that you too would be a millionaire.
