When lunch breaks disappear, where do they go?

It’s a truism that anything on the verge of extinction winds up in a museum. So, naturally, now that lunch breaks are becoming a thing of the past, the New York Public Library is convening an exhibit onlunch breaks.

    These ads expose a central contradiction in capitalism: the need for workers to work long cheap hours against the need for workers to buy as much as possible. Of course, what might be good for the capitalist class might also be bad for an individual capitalist. Given how much they agitate for more lunch breaks, I wonder if Mcdonald’s will give its employees more time off to eat.
